This Students’ guide is published in order to answer all queries of students and their parents that they may have pertaining to program administration, academics, fee, Scholarship and student affairs. The contents of this Guide are consistent with the guidelines issued by the University on different aspects for conducting various educational programs.

These rules and procedures are promulgated to facilitate smooth conduct of the above program, bringing transparency in the system and uniformity in their implementation. It is strongly recommended that all students and parents must read this Rule book carefully.

RULE BOOK

Being an educational institute BT Institute of Excellence (College) firmly upholds some ethical values and norms which each and every student has to follow. These rules and guidelines are made to maintain the dignity and decorum of the institute.

DISCIPLINARY RULES

Every student admitted to the institute shall abide by the following rules :

  1. Discipline : Every student, must at all times exhibit good behavior, show diligence in studies, maintain decorum and dignity. Any student who is found guilty of breaching of discipline or guilty of any misconduct shall be punished in accordance with the gravity of the offence.
  2. Vandalism : Students are asked to be mindful about the college property. They are asked not to involve themselves in any act of vandalism. Any student who is found vandalizing/damaging/defacing the college property, the whole class will be held responsible and shall be fined for the repair or reconstruction.
  3. Library : Students shall be responsible for upkeep of books or materials issued to them via Library. Books should be returned within due date. Overdue fine will be charged if the books are not returned on time, damaged or lost.
  4. Ragging : Ragging is strictly prohibited in the college campus. Indulgence or encouraging physical assault or threat to use physical force, towards students, teaching and non-teaching staff is highly condemned and the perpetrator must be dealt with accordingly.
  5. Criteria for leave : A prior application for leave must be submitted to the principal in case of the absence for a period not exceeding one week in a semester, due to sickness or any other unavoidable reasons. In case of medical leave, the Medical Certificate should be enclosed along with the leave application, which should be signed by the parent/guardian.
  6. Missing Internal and/or Externals Examination : Students, in all cases, are advised not to miss-in their internal or external examination. Any student, who fails to take examination on the scheduled dates set by the college, will be considered absent after the intimation of notice.
  7. Payment of Fee : Students are advised to clear their college fee on time. If the students do not deposit fee by the due date they have to pay late payment charges to the Institute as prescribed by the College.
  8. Lab Rules : Entry and exit of students into the respective computer labs or other labs, shall be controlled in accordance with the Time-Table issued by the Principal/HOD for each class. Students are to use their respective labs in the stipulated timings. If a student wishes to use the computing resources in a Lab beyond stipulated timings, he/she is to take specific permission from the concerned Lab In charge. Students are strictly advised not to tamper with the hardware, software or any equipment/chemical/glassware and supplies in the lab. If any student is found tampering with the lab supplies, they shall be fined accordingly.
  9. Students are not allowed to bring any outsider with them in the college but in special case parents or any outsider may be allowed with valid reason and only after seeking permission of Principal/HOD.
  10. Tobacco free campus : Students are not allowed to use tobacco in any form in the college campus. If any student is found using such product will be fined.
  11. Mobile phone : Students are not allowed to use mobile phone in the classrooms. During examination students will not be allowed to bring mobile phone in the college campus.

Academic Administration of Programs

There shall be a Head of the Department of each education program who will be the overall in-charge for the smooth conduct of the program and achieving academic excellence.

Administration of Academic Calendar / Time Table

A senior faculty shall act as single point source of preparing and notifying routine time-tables for all the programs run in the Institute. He/she shall also notify schedule for class tests and all other academic activities. The schedule for all other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities shall be notified in it.

Each education program comprises of a number of courses and other components as specified in the syllabi issued by the affiliating University. The detailed syllabus for each education program is given on the website of the University https:dhsgsu.edu.in/index.php/en/ Students must read it while planning their studies.

Teaching in the Institute shall be conducted within the framework of the syllabi for the respective program as laid down by the affiliating University.

Working Hours

Institute shall work from Monday to Saturday from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm excluding Sundays and holidays notified by the affiliating university.

Academic Calendar

The Institute follows the academic calendar as laid down by the affiliating University. However, the Institute may modify the academic calendar for effective management of teaching learning process and for balancing the co-curricular, NCC, NSS and extra-curricular activities. The academic calendar shall be notified to the students through the notice board.

Attendance For Semester-End Examinations

A student shall be required to have a minimum attendance of 75% in the aggregate of all the courses taken together in an Academic year, provided that the principal may condone attendance shortage up to 5% for individual student for reasons to be recorded. However, under no condition, a student who has an aggregate attendance of less than 70% in an Academic year shall be allowed to appear in the semester-end examination.

Adherence to Time Table

The time-table/schedule of classes and all other activities shall be announced by the Principal/Academic Coordinator, senior faculty. Students are expected to be present five minutes before the commencement of the activity, wherever they are required to be present.

Examination & Evaluation

There shall be two internal examinations Mid Semester I (20 marks) and Mid Semester II (20 marks).  Dates for these examinations will be as per academic calendar of the affiliating university.

Conduct of Semester-end examinations

(a) In the semester-end examinations students shall be examined in the course papers prescribed for the specified semester as given in the respective syllabi.

(b) Semester-end examinations shall be conducted by the affiliating University at the specified examination centers, notified by the University.

(c) The examinations shall be conducted as per the prescribed schedule notified by the affiliating University.

(d) For appearing in the semester-end examination, students are to apply on a prescribed form through the Institute. University shall issue admit card. Students must possess the admit card for appearing in each paper.

Attendance For Semester-End Examinations

Attendance is one of the most important indicators of student performance. It reveals the possibility of failure or dropout at an early stage. Mentors keep a record of attendance on a monthly basis. Also, daily subject wise attendance is maintained and monitored by mentors. Students having less than 75% of required attendance are counseled by their mentors to analyze the problems at individual level. Parents- Teacher Interaction is a regular activity of the Institution. Information to parents is sent through SMS/Whatsapp and letters are sent to parents whose wards fail to secure 75% attendance in the class. Such students are counseled and re-oriented towards the classes by their mentors.

Promotion to Next Semester

The University follows the system of “Carry Forward” wherein students shall be promoted to the next semester in all cases except if detained due to shortage of attendance or on disciplinary grounds.

Award of Degree

A student shall be eligible for the award of degree subject to :

(a) He / she has undergone the course of studies, completed the project report / training report specified in the curriculum of his / her program within the stipulated time, and secured the minimum credits prescribed for award of the Degree.

(b) There are no dues outstanding in his / her name to the Institute; and

(c) No disciplinary action is pending against him / her.

FEE

General : The fee for different programs is decided by the affiliating university DHSGU

Fee Charged by the College

The fee charged by the College has six components viz. Academic Fee, University examination Fee, Student Activity Fee, library fee, Magazine fee and Security Deposit.

Payment of Fee

Payment of fee will be made at the college cash counter or on-line in the college bank account number.

Late Payment Charges

After last date of submission of fee late fee will be as per the affiliating university.

Mode of Payment : On-line payment mode.

Other Fee : As per the affiliating university

Refund of Fee : Refund of 80% fee will be made if admission is cancelled before enrollment in the affiliating university. After enrollment, no fee will be refunded.

STUDENTS CODE & CONDUCT

General Conduct

All students are to maintain good conduct and behavior during their stay in the Institute. In this respect, acts of indiscipline and penalties have been laid down in the succeeding paragraphs. All students must read and understand pros and cons of the same.

Rules for Misconduct/Discipline

Following activities of the students shall be deemed as act of indiscipline:

  1. Physical assault or threat to use physical force, against any member of the teaching or non-teaching staff of the Institute.
  2. Remaining absent from the class, test, examination or any other curricular/co-curricular activity, which he/she is expected to participate in.
  3. Carrying of, use of or threat to use, any weapon.
  4. Misbehavior or cruelty towards any other student, teacher or any employee of the University/college/institution.
  5. Use of drugs or other intoxicants except those prescribed by a qualified doctor.
  6. Indulging in or encouraging violence or any conduct, which involves moral turpitude.
  7. Any form of gambling.
  8. Violation of the status, dignity and honour of a student belonging to a SC/ST.
  9. Discrimination against any student/member of staff on grounds of caste, creed, language, place of origin, social and cultural background or any of them.
  10. Practicing casteism and untouchability in any form or inciting any other person to do so.
  11. Any act, whether verbal or otherwise, derogatory to women.
  12. Drinking of alcohol or smoking or chewing tobacco product in the college campus.
  13. Any attempt at bribing or corruption of any manner.
  14. Willful destruction of the property of the institute.
  15. Behaving in a rowdy, intemperate or disorderly manner in the premises of the institute or encouraging or inciting any other person to do so.
  16. Creating discord, ill will or intolerance among the students on sectarian or communal grounds or inciting any other student to do so.
  17. Causing disruption in any manner of the academic or other functioning of the Institutional system.
  18. Indulging in or encouraging any form of disruptive activities connected with tests, examinations or any other activity of the institute.
  19. Truancy and unpunctuality.
  20. Using unfair means in the examination.
Penalties for Breach of Discipline

Following penalties are prescribed for committing any act of indiscipline defined above:

  1. The defaulter may be expelled from the Institute, in such cases he/she shall not be re- admitted to the Institute.
  2. For a stated period, the defaulter may be rusticated and shall not be allowed to attend the program, till the expiry of the period of rustication.
  3. For a stated period, the defaulter may not be admitted to a course or courses of study of the University.
  4. The defaulter or the whole class may be imposed with collective fine of a specified amount of money.
  5. The defaulter may be debarred form taking an examination or examinations for one or more semesters.
  6. In cases of using unfair means, the result of the concerned student of the examination or examinations at which he/she has appeared will be taken by the affiliating university.
Rules Regarding Ragging

Ragging in any form shall be strictly prohibited within the premises of the Institute or in any part of the University system as well as on public transport, or at any other place, public or private.

Any individual or collective act or practice of ragging shall constitute an act of gross indiscipline and such matter shall be discussed in the anti-ragging committee of the college, and appropriate decision will be taken.

Ragging shall ordinarily means any act, conduct or practice by which the dominant power or status of senior students is brought to bear upon the students who are in any way considered junior or inferior by the former and includes individual or collective acts or practices which-

  1. Involve physical assault or threat to use physical force;
  2. Violate the status, dignity and honor of students, in particular women students and those belonging to a scheduled caste or a scheduled tribe;
  3. Expose students to ridicule or contempt or commit an act which may lower their self esteem; and
  4. Entail verbal abuse, mental or physical torture, aggression, corporal punishment, harassment, trauma, indecent gesture and obscene behavior.
Procedure for Disciplinary Action

Any complaint received against any student will be dealt with in the following manner:

  1. An inquiry shall be ordered by the Principal/anti-ragging committee of the college.
  2. College anti-ragging committee shall conduct the inquiry with Principal as its Presiding Officer.
  3. The involved student (s) would be given a chance to explain his/her conduct in writing. The anti-ragging committee may call others for facilitating the enquiry.
  4. During the conduct of inquiry the Board may suspend the student, if the situation so demands.
  5. The anti-ragging committee shall submit its findings and recommendations to the Principal for approval.  In all matters of discipline, the decision of the Principal will be final.
Library Rules

The Institute has one library common for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. For using the library facilities students are to adhere to the following rules:

  1. Identity Cards, when demanded, should be shown.
  2. Books will be issued on Library Cards for the period of Seven Days.
  3. Books should be returned within due date.
  4. Overdue fine is Rupee One per day for first seven days after that Rupees Two per day.
  5. Reference books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers will not be issued.
  6. Books can be reserved for issue or for extended use if no other user has demanded for the same book.
  7. Books borrowed during the examination are to be returned within One Week after the Exam.
  8. Borrowers are responsible for the safety and upkeep of books.
  9. On loss or damaging/disfiguring a book, either same book or double cost of replacement will be charged.
  10. Students are to ensure, at the time of issue, that the book is in good condition. At the time of return, no plea about its condition at the time of issue shall be accepted, if returned in damaged/disfigured condition.
  11. No book/reading material is to be taken outside the library for any purpose without the proper issue.
  12. Bags, eatables, personal books, reading material and use of mobile phone are not permitted within the Library.
  13. Students are to maintain complete silence while in the Library.
  14. At the time of passing out from the Institute a clearance (No Dues Certificate) is to be obtained for release of Security Deposit. Students are to return the Library card on completion of the program. Cost of any loss or damage would be deducted from the Security Deposit.

Any violation of the above rules shall be treated as an act of indiscipline and be dealt with accordingly.

Computer Lab Rules

There is one Computer lab available in the college for students.

Entry and exit of students into the computer lab shall be controlled in accordance with the Time-Table issued for each class. Students are to use the computer lab in the stipulated timings only.

If a student wishes to use the computing resources in a Lab beyond stipulated timings, he / she has to take specific permission from the concerned In-charge/Faculty.

Specific Dos and Don’ts for the use of computer lab are given below. All students are to strictly adhere to these.

DO’s          

  1. Switch-on and Switch-off the computer in systematic sequence.
  2. Keep your work-files at the assigned location only.
  3. In case of power failure, save your data within 15 minutes and switch-off computer and monitor systematically to avoid battery drainage of the UPS.
  4. Any CD or Pen Drive is to be used with prior permission of Lab In-charge and after a proper scan for virus.
  5. Before leaving the Computer Lab ensure that chairs are kept in proper manner.
  6. Show your Identity Card if asked for by the Lab In-charge/Faculty.

DON’Ts

  1. Don’t upload any outside software/hardware.
  2. Don’t delete or rename any system/program file.
  3. Don’t shift any hardware within or outside the Lab.
  4. Don’t make an attempt to repair any hardware or software problem yourself. Bring it to the notice of Lab In-charge.
  5. Don’t bring any eatables or drinks inside the Lab.
  6. Wandering and gossiping inside the Lab is strictly prohibited.
Participation in Co-curricular & Extra-curricular activities

Activities in the Institute: During the conduct of semesters, carry out many co-curricular and extracurricular activities. It is mandatory for all the students to participate in these activities and be present. Failure to do so shall be treated as an act of indiscipline & be dealt with accordingly. Such non-participation shall also be taken into consideration for Continuous Evaluation purposes.

Be a Part of your Childs’ Education

Parent-Institute Interaction In order to keep the parents updated with the progress of their wards, every second Saturday of each month is reserved for Parents-Institute interaction. Parents are requested to use this opportunity to share their views and suggestions with the Institute.

In specific cases, the Institute may call the parents to appraise them about the problems related to their wards. Parents are supposed to appreciate that education and all-embracing personality development of their wards, at this highly impressionable age, is of utmost importance and need continuous monitoring and exchange of views with the faculty entrusted with these responsibilities. Parents are supposed to kindly cooperate in this joint endeavor.

Institute of Innovation in Alumni Association

The Institute has an active alumni association registered under M.P. society act No.06/09/01/14934/24 dated June 18, 2024. The aim of this association is to promote the ex-students networking, guiding the present students and provide feedback and support to the institute for desired improvement to the curriculum. BTIE Alumni Association hold its annual meeting during March every year as notified on the Institute’s website. All the pass out students of BTIE are the members of the Alumni Association.

Identity Card

Each student shall be issued with an identity card by the Institute. Students are to always carry identity card, while they are in the campus and produce the same as and when required by appropriate authorities. This I-card shall also act as a Library Card for the issue of books. They should surrender this card at the time of leaving the Institute. A fee of Rs.100/- shall be charged for the issue of duplicate identity card.

Final Clearance

A student who withdraws from the program permanently on his/her own accord or on completion of program shall obtain “No-dues Certificate” from all the concerned departments. The students should also return their identity cards to Academics Office before final clearance.

Dress Code

BTIE is conducting professional courses, wherein the students are expected to acquire academic excellence and attitudinal training to follow norms of the organizations, where they are finally placed. This in turn requires a professional bent of mind along with decent dressing sense. Keeping this in view, the students at this Institute are to strictly adhere to following dress code: • For Boys: Shirt/T-shirt and Trousers with shoes/Sandals.

  • For Girls: Salwar Suit, Trouser & Formal Top with Shoes/Sandals.

Note:

Shorts/Bermuda/Capri/Sleeveless Tops/Bathroom slippers are strictly prohibited. The Students are advised to follow formal dress code on regular basis and on the day of presentations and special functions.

Notification of Information

All information in respect of conduct of a program shall be conveyed through Notice Boards. All important notices shall also be placed on the “Notices” link of the Institute’s website https://btie.in

Information conveyed through the Notice Boards/Website of Institute shall deem to have been conveyed to all students. Students in their own interest must read the notices/website/Knowledge Portal of Institute on daily basis.

Reservation of Rights

Notwithstanding anything stated in these rules, for any unforeseen issues arising, and not covered by these rules, or in the event of differences of interpretation, the Principal may take a decision, after obtaining the opinion/advice of the ‘College development  Committee’. The decision of the Principal shall be final.

The Institute is affiliated to Dr. Hari Singh Gour Vishvavidyalaya (A Central university), Sagar (M.P.) and adhere the policies and rules of the same and also reserves the right to add, delete, modify or change any of the requirements for admission, course structure, fee charge, scholarships, awards and rules & procedures affecting students, which are deemed necessary in the interest of the students, the Institute and the profession. Besides these rules, any rule that is promulgated or changed by the regulatory bodies such as University, UGC, NCTE shall be applicable to the students of the Institute.
